The Authorized Yard
St Gatien Stables, in the heart of Newmarket, boasts an illustrious history. It was built by trainer Bob Sherwood and named after his 1884 Derby winner. It went on to produce a huge array of winners for Sam Armstrong and his nephew Robert, a fortuitous streak that has continued through to this day.
The Authorized Yard, where Patrick is based, has most recently been used by Charlie Fellowes, Ed Walker and Peter Chapple-Hyam, who as the name suggests, prepared 2007 Derby winner Authorized there.
The yard is in a prime location with easy access to the world famous Warren Hill and Jockey Club Estates Training Grounds. Patrick Owens Racing has access to all of the excellent gallops and training facilities in Newmarket that are managed by Jockey Club Estates. With such a fantastic variety of surfaces and gradients, training regimes can be tailored to suit the individual needs of every horse at The Authorized Yard.
Our on-site facilities in the yard include a horse walker, trotting ring, lunge ring and turnout. World-class veterinary and farrier services are used by the stable and we also have access to an equine swimming pool.
Newmarket’s impressive training facilities allow our yard access to 50 miles of Turf gallops and 14 miles of artificial tracks which means the ability to train every single one of the 365 days in a year.
